81. Skip the hairspray.

The 80’s would NOT have existed without hairspray.  Would we skip the 80s?

No Cyndi Lauper?  No hair metal bands? No mullets?

If hairspray were skipped in the 80s, just think of all the things that would have been canceled:

  • All homecomings/Proms
  • Most Weddings
  • That Flock of Seagulls concert
  • Andre Aggassi

To help you ‘Skip the hairspray’, here’s a simple 2-step process:

  1. Choose natural dry shampoo (Episode 80)
  2. Choose natural crimped hot iron (Living la Vida 80s)

Your Future You could let you take the easy way out of ‘skipping the hairspray’ by just letting your hair thin, recede and then concede to being beautifully bald. However, ‘thinning hair and balding’ in the future have been resolved through stem cells and some AI generated protein-folding cocktail. But  even in a future with AI, there is no ‘solving for mullets’.

P.S. - It’s been reported that Corporate Housing Companies help ‘‘Skip the hairspray’ by staying trendy and fashion-forward with functional, freeing and flowing furnishings - fewer retro 80’s stylings. Corporate housing providers can not prevent copious hairspray usage from guests who pack huge amounts of Aqua Net. Our spacious bathrooms can store boxes of hairspray, if that’s their choice. And that’s what we’re talkin’ about, Willis.

Anyone have a favorite 80s hair photo to share?

  3. Still reading? Cool. We think you’re amazing and full of joyful zest.

This series is based off ‘105 Simple Sustainable actions’ - from Stephane Omsanski’s article in Parade from 2021.

81. Skip the hairspray.

Likewise, hairspray is one of those things you just don't need to buy.
