87. Recycle that old, energy-guzzling fridge.

Ouch.

This reads like a geezer-freezer burn.

Fridges show their feelings, too.

Fridges (even old ones) can give you the cold shoulder, an icy stare or even funny tasting ice cubes. (is it the coils that need cleaning? OR… maybe it's, uh… hmmm… maybe it's just better we pull out the plastic ice cube trays. We think the fridge could just be mad.)

To help you ‘Recycle that old, energy-guzzling fridge’, here’s a simple 2-step process:

  1. Take a photo of your old fridge, before you recycle it
  2. Use a fridge magnet to hang a photo of ‘that old, energy-guzzling (but lovable) fridge on your new fridge.

Your Future You realizes that recycling is part of life. In fact, you shouldn’t feel too bad when you ‘Recycle that old, energy-guzzling fridge’ because you will have a reverse microwave in the near future.  So even your new young, beautiful and energy-sippin’ (with raised pinky) fridge that will be in your home soon, will be put out to the recycling pasture by your Future You.

P.S. - It’s been reported that Corporate Housing Companies help ‘‘Recycle that old, energy-guzzling fridge’ by first showing compassion. Then creating a ‘this is your life' photo montage of the fridge’s food it had in and out over the years to keep you sustained. Yes, the walk down memory lane / picture montage is a bit sappy, but so were those 3 week old apples that you kept in the ‘crisper drawer’ back in 1997.  All’s fair in love and recycling.

Why does this ‘Future You’ Series exist? What’s it about?

  2. A playful post of simple ways to sorta improve our lives, and the lives of those we love. Also improve our future lives… by taking playful action today.

  3. Still reading? Cool. We think you’re amazing and full of joyful zest.

This series is based off ‘105 Simple Sustainable actions’ - from Stephane Omsanski’s article in Parade from 2021.
