51. Buy secondhand.

On one hand, buying secondhand lends a helping-hand both to recycling and to business. On the second hand, buying secondhand provides nifty thrifty threads to thriving anthropes. On the third hand, buying secondhand prevents under-handed compliments overheard when overpaying for under-utilized fashion.  

To help you “Buy secondhand" here’s a simple 2-step process:

  1. Listen to Macklemore’s ‘Thriftshop’ 
  2. Gleefully glide to Goodwill! (in person or online)

Your Future You wants to use both hands to give you a celebratory hive-five (high-ten?) when you ‘Buy secondhand’. Since your ‘current you’ could be considered the future version of your parents and grandparents, your Future You sees buying secondhand as an homage to previous styles, past generations, and timeless stories like ‘back in my day, we would always… [insert quickly looking for distractions/new topics]   

P.S. It’s been reported that Corporate Housing companies support the ‘Buy secondhand’ belief, because in a sense, corporate housing involves recycling some properties, and some furnishings that may have been previously lived in, then cleaned, inspected and given a new life for nifty thrifty thriving (and sagacious) anthropes. This way, corporate housing is as timeless as a watch without a first…or secondhand.
