60. Service your car frequently.

Nice ride!

What if Warren Buffet told you he will grant you the car of your dreams, but it will be the ONLY car for your entire life? How would you treat it? Would you be proud of it 50-70-120 years later? Would you ask Warren for a little gas money? “Hey Warren, can you spare a few bucks for the insurance deductible?”

We don’t think you would be ungrateful and ask for continued support. We bet you would develop a drive to service that vehicle with frequency. We mean, it’s the ONLY car you’l ever have. At least the Sage of Omaha didn’t require you to ONLY live in Nebraska* as part of his conditional genie gift.

To help you ‘Service your car frequently,’ here’s a simple 2-step process:

  1. Pull out the car service manual buried somewhere below all those gloves in your misnomer-ed glove box.
  2. Gleefully follow the simple 152 point step inspection service!

Your Future You wants you to ‘Service your car frequently’ to keep it and your future body out of the future junkyard. The ‘frequently servicing’ behavior will be a ‘conditional genie gift’ to motivate/drive your future you’s body and your Future You’s car. Your Future You also wanted us to include a junkyard next to an unhealthy version of a future you visual, but we feel you get the picture.

P.S. It’s been reported that Corporate Housing companies help you ‘Service your car frequently’ by modeling this 'frequently servicing' behavior on our properties and for our guests.

*P.P.S -By the way, when you do find yourself living temporarily in Nebraska (with or without Warren’s granted dream car) be sure to contact Tony and Andy Mixan at Midwest Corporate Housing. I was told to ask about their Berkshire Hathaway furnished monthly rental suite…

60. Service your car frequently.

Just as properly inflated tires are important to saving you mileage and emissions, servicing your car frequently is crucial, too. The more regularly you take care of your car, the less likely there is to be a problem. Servicing your vehicle keeps it running efficiently, which is always the better option for the planet.
